Why don’t we put ourselves first?

4 April 2022
Many of us have been conditioned to believe that putting ourselves first is selfish, self centred, rude, arrogant and definitely not the right thing to do.

I firmly believe that we need to urgently start understanding that looking after ourselves first is in fact not only the right thing to do but absolutely fundamental for the better good.

Now don’t get me wrong, looking after yourself first doesn’t mean that you don’t care about others, in fact I will argue it actually means that you can care more. You see if you are mentally and physically at your best then that generally means that you have embedded the right beliefs, goals, systems and processes to achieve it. As a result you will be in more control of your energy, time and money and be able to more actively plan to help others.

The reason we have more mental health issues and we can’t seem to find the energy, time and money to help ourselves, our business and our community is because we just don’t put ourselves first in planning how we can or want to live our lives. Is it right that you spend hours, months or even years working on strategy and plans for others in business or communities but yet you are so reluctant to spend just a few hours a month or year on defining your own life plan.

Find your reason, establish your goals, objectives & action plans that will help you to ensure you can be at your best.

Put yourself first so you can better look after others.
